I once tweeted at the beginning of an urging from my mates whilst overseas, that if peer group pressure didn’t exist nor would tequila.
I often see the same type of pressure exerting itself throughout our industry where young people, in the early stages of their career, give in to the peer pressure to wear expensive suits, drive European cars and hang out in all the right places. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with presenting yourself in a business-like and professional manner, but I can’t help but think that these funds and energy could be better directed towards laying the foundation of a long and fulfilling career.
Just for the record I didn’t succumb to the tequila that night, which gave me a distinct advantage over my peers the following day.
